I went today to pick up a pair of boots, very exciting!
Tonight I went to a benefit for Cystic Fibrosis. It was held at The Stage. Lee Ann Womack, Chuck Wicks and Darryl Worley performed. Darryl was the host of the event. The event was a huge success. They raised thousands of dollars for a great charity. A surprise guest showed up-Jamie Johnson came and sang a duet with Lee Ann "Give it Away" and the Jamey sang In Color. Great performances by all of the artists. Some of them posed for pictures afterwards and special shout out to Chuck! Lee Ann, Chuck and Darryl also all signed my cast.
I am off to bed. I am going to a breakfast tomorrow with Darius Rucker and Eric Church and Emily West. It's early, but at least it is only across the street. Later in the day I have the Fashion show, which is always fun, the big parade and free shows at the Sommet and then Dierks Fan Club party. Alan Jackson is doing a free show at the Cadillac Ranch tomorrow but looks like I will have to miss that in favor of Dierks.
Will try to get to post some pictures tomorrow, lighting was bad tonight but will go through them if I get a chance.
Nite.

WOW, Im Back!
Hi all, sorry been so long since I checked in here. Been a crazy month! I do have some pictures and video to post and will try to get to it by the weekend. I went to 3 more concerts and for one show I didn't take ANY pictures. It seemed like an entirely different show to me! LOL. I also had a WONDERFUL meet and greet with Dierks. highlight of the last few weeks. I also registered and lost several more BSE attempts, but the good news is after losing 12 times this year, I did win and it is for my own hometown. Very excited as it is an outdoor festival so I think it is a real meet and greet since they can't really do the BBQ there as summerfest as their own sponsors and I don't think it is allowed. Will keep you updated as I find out more.
Anyhoo, I am in Nashville this week at 2009 CMA Fest. I love this week so much. I have a lot planned so will post pictures and comments along the way.
My first big event is a NAP! I am exhausted! 2nd Event, I am going to a charity benefit at the stage and Chuck Wicks and Lee Ann Womack are performing so it should be a good time.
My pillow is calling..I can hear it from here..write more soon!

Click Here to listen to my FM 106 Audio For Keith Contest
This is the interview I did for Keith Urban Street Team on my local radio station. The ending was cut off because they had to go to commerical. It aired during morning drive and was one of two that I did on the station.

Chicago 6/15/09
Last night's show was really really good. They look much more comfortable on stage and you can tell the initial nervousness that Keith had last week was gone. To me it really seemed like he had a great time and they were all having fun. I love that in a show.
Details-
Security at least upfront was great. They were no pushy and pretty much left us all alone. There were no bracelets at all, people did not push and shove, no standing on seats. Just the way it should be.
There was a lot less room between the CW and seats, which is a great thing. Row G was the first row after the cw and still think row J,-L in the middle are the best seats, so you have a full view on everything.
He went to the backstage again, down on Brian's side and up on Jerry's.
The extended intro to Shirt is back with the guitar rifs. Love it. For shirt he went down on Jerry's and almost to the back of the arena.
He started singing "Standing" before he was supposed too, just a word, but it was funny.
I just loved this show and was really happy to be here.
Zac Brown Band-They were good. True Southern Country. They crowd sat for most o the show but a few of their songs got a great reaction and Devil Went Down, standing ovation once they were finished. Great fiddle skills. The song Chicken Friend continues to amaze me, its a song everyone knows the words to and it will always be their Anthem!

It's Concert Day!
Waiting to go tot he airport to pick up my friend Debi then we are going to drive down to Chicago! I am excited again, I think me skipping some shows actually helps me so I don't get overexposed to Keith. LOL
Everything is charged, but not packed yet. Have a work conference call first, then need to get the car washed and packed and she arrives at 10:45 CT.
Will tweet if I am not too close but will let you know before the show starts. As of right now, I will be.
I will upload the pics before I go to bed (while I am sleeping) so you all will have something to look at while you have your morning coffee.
Have a Great Day!

Two years later, I still miss you as much as I did the day you passed away! Thanks for the incredible gift you gave me and all the wonderful friendships that began because of it.

The First Show!
I am exhausted. Long days, short nights since I have been here. But I did get what I came for. Good times with my friends and GREAT music with some talented musicians. That's what it is all about.
Please do not read this unless you want to know what happened.
Seating. For this arena, row H went straight across, you could not get pass row H, unless you had a bracelet. If you had this bracelet you could go anywhere in front of ROW H, no questions asked. I loved that idea, except once again, if you paid extra for the good seats, it doesn't guarantee you wil actually be in those seats. On the other hand, I have to saym this is an awesome stage setup.
if you are facing the stage, the cw came out to right in front of F. there was a ramp that went down on either side, as far as about the 3rd row I would guess. on stage on either side there was a ramp that went up with a smaller platform, where they guys played from time to time and so did Keith.
Keith spent a lot of time on the catwalk by himself. Loved it, because again we were in row J and anywhere 10 rows back of there would have been awesome.
He admitted a few times to being a bit nervous. Nicole was there but he never mentioned her or dedicated anything to her.
The video screens are 5 veritical panels. They are EXCELLENT quality and have some great visuals up there during the show. One of the coolest was the baby pictures of the band. No baby pictures of Keith though.
He was very energetic, friendly, did read an anniversary sign for a couple which he called up on stage, signed it and then dedicated MMOU to them.
Some of this may be out of order, I am listening to the concert again so am writing things down randomly as they come back to me.
SB, amazing solo as always, he actually layed down on the stage at the end during that show. very hot and can't wait to have that few tonight when I am on the cw. :)
Blackstop. Same thing as last time (how you doing over here, etc) I still love this song!
Better Half-His first walk in to the Audience to get to Stage B. Lots of hugging, etc on the way!
Stage B: Said he couldn't stay away from them back there any longer. LOL. Crowd very excited. Said he was nervous as hell as it was his first night out back on tour. Almost lost his voice on the first few songs, he is freaking out a little.
OIAL-acoustically (not a favorite of mine)
MMOU-Read a sign in the audience of a couple that were celebrating their 25th Anniversary. Called them up, signed their sign and dedicated MMOU to them. Very nice. The guys were on Stage A playing while sitting on stools. I liked this.
Standing Right in Front of you- Loved this song!
Very cool intro for Summer. A bit too much fog machine!
Sweet Thing, crowd was very in to this and I love this song live. The video screen was very cool on this, lots of bright colors, etc.
When they did the intros for the band, they showed baby pictures of all of them. I thought this was very cool, but thought Keith's baby pictures should have been there too.
WWWTBM- went in audience low on ramps for this song.
More to come..off to eat something and need coffee...

Time for Bed
Had a great day! Arrived in Boston, met Rashell at the airport. The SUV we had was pimped out with electrical outlets, usb outlets, it was pretty cool! We stopped for lunch at Subway and arrived at MS about 3ish or so. Ran in to Jen in the lobby and had a few drinks. Then found Debi, Lisa and her mom, Ashley and her mom. They went to dinner, I hopped on a chat with Jake for a few and then went down for more drinks and ran in to Cindy, Kimmy and Adrienne and had more drinks.
Rashell and I went to dinner and saw Jerry and Brad walk by but did not have a chance to talk to them. A bit later, Brian, Jeff Johnson, Lindsay and Chris McHugh came by and I stopped and talked to them for a bit and we ran in to them later on having drinks. Lots of Karaoke and ran in to Chris Hickey, Rusty who sang a mean Karoke song with band and crew singing backup (amazing).
The big scoop of the night was that Sugarland had to cancel their weekend performances with Keith and there was a scramble for replacements. Heard many things throughout the night, but it is Jason Aldean tomorrow, Jason and LBT for Friday and then LBT for Saturday.
Everyone I talked to tonight, told me that the show is amazing, lots of surprises in store. Picked up bits and pieces here and there but will post about it tomorrow as I wasn't supposed to hear what I heard. LOL. Stay tuned...Will post during the show on twitter as it happens.
Pictures not very good, but had a great time!
More tomorrow...I am exhausted!
Didnt take a lot of pictures, but uploaded what I have.

Next Stop Mohegan!
I am not really packed but ready to go anyway. LOL It is 11pm and headed to bed so I can fly out early morning.
I am so excited for Thursday night. New tour, new music, new stage, etc. How exciting!!!! Even though by the end of the summer it will all seem old, Thursday night will all be brand new, like Christmas and you just don't know what you are going to get.
As always it is all about the music and the friends I have met over the past two years. Each show feels like a class reunion which makes this all so much fun!
I know some of you don't want to know what happens on the tour until it is your show. So I want to suggest you stay away from the blog and unfollow me on twitter until you get to go yourself. I really dont' want to ruin any surprises.
I will post info as I get it over the next few days on twitter and will post here at night, with pictures and video.
Feel free to tweet me questions and I promise to answer them after the show. Again only use the concerts09 ID.
happy days are here again!

Only a few more days...
I am getting so excited. Only a few more days to go. Hard to believe it has been over a year since I have seen a full tour show! I have a quick 2 day trip to Minneapolis to take, then home to finish getting ready.
My goal (LOL) is to get all packed up tonight. Everything is on their chargers, tickets, itinerary packed up in my carry on. A ton to do before Wednesday morning, but I sure am ready to roll!
I will probably update Twitter more than the blog and just do a blog entry at night. So if you are not following me on twitter and want to come along to the concert, make sure you add me. The ONLY ID I will be tweeting on for the concerts is the Concerts09, so make sure that is the one you follow on.
Ok off to do wash and start checking off my list!

Jake Owen-The Concert
I have told this story to Jake a few times, but there was a time that I thought I did not like Jake Owen. I am the first to admit I was wrong. I just was not familiar with his music and didn't give him a fair shot. Well that changed for me last year at CMA Fest and since then I have been a big fan.
So when I last left you my friend and I were sitting drinking. I decided to go back to the hotel and clean out my purse so I wouldn't have to lug everything around. Well, dont' do that! LOL. When I went back, I had a brilliant idea to quickly change the battery for my camera so I could make sure that the battery didn't die to during the show. well, I ended up having NO battery in my camera and it was completly dead, so I only could take a few pictures on my phone.
SOme nice ladies saved our spots in the 3rd row for us, right in front of the mic. Thank you, Thank you!! (hope to see you girls at Country Thunder).
So Jake takes the stage and he was barefoot. This guy hss such a powerful voice and an amazing stage persona that if you have not seen him yet live, I strongly encourage you to do so. He played for 2 straight hours and the crowd sand a long to every word and cheered him on.
Two moments that stand out for me was his tribute song to Vern Gosdin who passed away earlier in the day and Jake considered a mentor. The other was when he saw a little girl Maggie singing the words to Don't Think I Can't Love You, and called her up on stage. she was a bit shy, but Jake serenaded her and by the end she was singing along with everyone else. The crowd roared with approval.
Well, for one reason or another we never had that beer that we were going to have after the show, but this singer is an Artist and he is going to be huge one day, see him now while you can for free, which this show was. He will be filling up arena's of his own one day and I will be in line to buy the ticket!
His hope is to one day tour with Keith Urban, well if tha this happens then I will be first in line :)
Had a wonderful time and can't wait to see him again. One day, I will get that beer!! New goal!
Jake Owen-Louisville, Kentucky 4/22
Damn!
I arrived in Louisville on Tuesday, took care of some business and then waited for my friend Rashell to meet me at the hotel. It was nice outside but there was a threat of rain. I had to get shoes, I repeated that several times, but I sit here at home and can say, I never bought them. oops.!
We were starving so decide to go to a pub and sit outside where they were setting up the stage. The great waiter said we could stay there as long as we wanted, which was cool, because we were there about 6 hours. LOL.
We had lunch, I ran in the the drummer who came over to us and sat down and talked to us several times during our stay. It was his birthday the next day so we kept him company. I asked him if he was lucky enough to attend the Britney concert with Jake the night before (he wasn't, and wasn't happy about it, LOL) he said Jake was on his way and would be there in about an hour or so.
We ate lunch and drank, and then drank. I was feeling a bit buzzed and then my friend saw Jake! He had on the longest pair of shorts I ever saw and looked like he rolled out of bed! I went over to him, he said hi to me and told me he was ready to do a radio interview so to wait until he was done. So as soon as the interview was over he came over and said hi and gave me a hug!he posed for a ton of pictures and signed a lot of things. One thing thats cool about Jake is he remembers his fans. Love that about him. I saw a few girls from the Joe's Bar show I had gone to so I talked them while waiting for Jake to get done with all of the pictures.
Once he was finished, we walked over to the side and talked for a while. I had a special gift for him, which he loved! YAY! and he hugged on me a few more times. Can't beat that! I asked him if he could come and meet my friend, so he walked back to the restaurant with me and me her and I took their picture. We chatted for a bit, asked if he wanted a beer, he said after the show we would but he really needed to shower and change (he really did need too). So off he went to the bus, and we sat and drank.
Soon afterwards he came out for soundcheck and the sun was out again. Then all the guys went to go get something to eat and so did we.
So there were these guys that were hanging out by the stage, we knew they were the opening act, but didn't know who they were and we asked people and no one knew their name. I have to say they were pretty good. Kind of funny, they opened with a KU song, followed by Dierks, Luke Bryan, etc. They tried to do a strong finish by Singing Shirt, but they totally messed it up and forgot all the words. Not a good lasting impression to make. I sorta felt bad for them. Next up..Mr Jake Owen!!
I need to get my act together.....
Last week I forgot my makeup, this week forgot my shoes and forgot to charge my camera battery!! I am spending the week getting organized for the big show's next week. Making a check list!!!!

Off to Search for Jake...
Waiting for my friend Rashell to arrive, then off to find Jake. I have a package to deliver to him. Concert doesn't start until 8 so lots of time.
I also forgot to bring my work shoes, so need to go buy a pair. Oops!

Faith Hill Nashville4Africa
This is the Video of Faith Hill singing with the African Childrens Choir. This song actually made me cry. They are singing "This Little Light of Mine". I thought the kids were just great. Give it a bit for processing, I posted this at 10:55pm, CST so it might take 20 minutes or so. But I need to go to sleep, meetings tomorrow and then the Jake Concert.
KU Nashville For Africa
This is Keith singing "Somebody Like You" during Nashville4Africa. I was a bit close to the stage so not the best of views.
I just uploaded this to youtube at 3:09pm CST, so it is still processing. I wanted to post it before I head out to the airport, so if its not working yet, please check back in about 30 minutes or so. I am uploading the Faith Hill performance but don't know if that will finish before I have to leave. Now that I know how to do this, will be able to turn it around much faster! okay, gotta go..

Headed to Louisville
Off to Louisville for work today, but while I am there, I get to see Jake Owen perform at Fourth Street Live. I am so excited, but hopefully the rain will hold off. I will be tweeting from the show with pictures. At least since I know this event is outside there will be cell service!
CMA Fest
My Plans for CMA Fest are progressing, even though I do not have a place to stay yet. I am confident something will come up.
As of now, I have tickets to the Dierks LCB, Lady A party and the GAC kick off breakfast with Darius whom I just love. I also am going to Jake Owen's party. Still holding out for Luke Bryan's and Chuck Wicks.
I was able to find someone to share a CMA Fest ticket with me, so we are choosing the dates each of us wants to attend, glady we like different artists so there is no overlap really.
Again, if you know of anyone who wants to rent out their apartment for a week in downtown Nashville or has a spare bed in a hotel, let me know.

Canadian Presales
It seems like many had problems with the Keith Urban presales this morning. A few of my friends never even had a single ticket show up. Hopefully, they will be able to pull up something during the Lady A presale or the public sale later on this week.
I did not try for Toronto and concentrated on London and am happy I pulled up sec 2, row H. I would love to be closer, but it is a face value, so I am happy. I was even happier that the ticket price was 10.00 cheaper with the rate of exchange.
I received all of my rejection letters for the Keith Urban Meet and Greets this year that I have applied for so far. Have only a few shows chances yet, still have some hope.

Tonight Nashville Embraced Africa and Africa Embraced Nashville
I have to be 100% honest, when I decided to come to fly in to Nashville to see this concert tonight, I thought to myself, wow, what a great concert it would be. I gave very little thought to the purpose of the concert and what a difference it would make to these special little children.
From the opening song sung by Keith Urban "Somebody Like You" which he was accompanied by the singing and dancing of the African Children's Choir, I was captivated by these little kids who came from the other side of the world to perform. Keith also seemed enamored with them as he embraced them before leaving the stage. Their smiles and voices filled the room and we sat back and knew it was going to be one special night. And it was.
I do have video of Keith's performance and will post that as soon as I can convert it.
There were several highlights for me this evening. The biggest had to be when the children performed by themselves. They had such joy and happiness, it really was touching. Faith hill did an outstanding version of "Little Light of Mine" accompanied by the children. I also have that on tape and will post that a little later on after it is converted.
Dierks sang a version of "Beautiful World" that was fantastic. He did mention he recorded with the Choir earlier in the week so maybe that will be one of his next singles. It brought tears to my eyes.
I have never been a big fan of Big and Rich, but I will say I am now a big fan of Big Kenny. He was funny, nervous, touching and I was quite surprised a great performer and singer. He has a great voice on his own and am looking forward to hearing more from him in the future.
Other performers for the evening were Damien Horne, Bad ARnold, Ben Moody, Third Day, Ashley Cleveland, Jars of Clay, The SteelDrivers and Brandon Young.
Please check out africanchildrenschoir.com and www.loveeverybodyfund.com
This night changed my life and I hope to try to help this organization myself in the future in some way.
Pictures are posted. Click on the My Concert Photos on your right. I did not take a lot, I really just was lost in the show!
I do have audio though of the entire show and once I learn how to edit it, I will also post that!

This night changed my life and I hope to try to help this organization myself in the future in some way.
Pictures are posted. Click on the My Concert Photos on your right. I did not take a lot, I really just was lost in the show!
I do have audio though of the entire show and once I learn how to edit it, I will also post that!

Review to follow
I just need to get to sleep, but just want to say I hope I never forget the feeling I feel right now. I want to take every single one of those children home with me and cherish them forever. I learned so much this evening about the Sudan and Darfur and realize there is such a need out there and they need help. It is 90 minutes after the show ended and I am sitting here trying to write my review and I have tears in my eyes ( but good tears). I was truly touched tonight.
I promise to write more in the morning, I have a early airport call!

No Cell Service
Big Kenny from Big and Rich just sent out a tweent and let me know that cell service is not available in the symphony hall. He had also planned on tweeting and he doesn't think it will work for either of us. Going to try anyway to see what happens, it is worth a try.
If it does not work, I will blog as soon as I get back to the hotel and promise to take pictures of Keith and others! (maybe even a a little audio too) When I ran in to the choir in the lobby they were singing "Somebody Like You" is that a hint?

Chicago BSE 5/15
Just registered for Keith's Chicago BSE. I find it frustrating that in one place it says 4 people will win and in another it says 8. Just want consistency! Which is it?? I will know tomorrow. Again, I want to win, but not this early in the tour, but can't pass up the chance just in case! :)
New Thingy for my Iphone!
One of the things I love about the Iphone is that you can download all sorts of applications to make it do almost anything you want! One of the complaints I had about the Iphone is that when taking a picture you could not zoom in! Well, last night I found a new thingy in their App Store that will allow me to zoom in when taking pictures which is going to help when trying to take pictures during the concert.
Very Excited about that!!!
I also found another thingy that will allow me to upload directly to my photobucket account, but doesn't (or haven't figured out how yet) let me choose the folder I want it to go in to. Going to work on this today!
This will make the whole blogging/tweeting/photaking thing so much easier if all I have to do is push a button! HA! Love it!

My CMA decision!
Yeah, ok I am going! LOL. Still not sure where I am staying and plan to go to the Stadium on the days Jake, Luke and Dierks are performing, but I will be there. Now to hunt for tickets and fan club tickets. I am afraid I am starting to late for all of this.
So if you got tickets for any FC parties or the stadium for sale, let me know!

Big Week This Week!!
Good Afternoon Everyone!
Took me hours to get in here today until I figured out that I needed to reboot my computer, not sure why, but now I am here.
This is a big week!

Fun stuff! I also found someone to give a free ticket to for Keith's Green Bay show! Surprises me that people are so skeptical all the time and think there is a catch. Bottom line, I bought the ticket, was a single seat, got a better ticket, couldn't sell the other and was tired of wasting the time to do it, so thought I would just give it away instead and do something for someone that might not normally be able to go to the show! I feel good about it.
Wednesday is our big test to see if the Twittering/blogging will work with pictures from a show. Hope you all sign on to to follow along and help me test it out! I bought a new battery extender so I should not have phone problems!

Something Everyone Should Watch
I have watched this at least 10 times and have cried every single time. Even though it has nothing to do with country music it has to do with dreams and dreams coming true. Just incredible.

Tour Merch
Just heard that all the merch has been finalized!! YAY. Can't wait to see what new items they have for sale this year and what the designs are. I am hoping for a non-zip pull over hoodie! Hate those zippers. Hope they change their mind on this, but looks like no hoodies until August. I might have to design my own to wear until the official hoodies go on sale. They come in handy with too cold air-conditioning in the hotels, arenas and airports.
I would assume that if all tour dates have not been officially announced before Mohegan that all the dates will be listed on the back of the T-shirts. I will take a picture of a t-shirt to get the rest of the "official" dates while at Mohegan.
I have heard from several sources now that maybe Australia at the beginning of December and ending prior to the Christmas holidays. No official confirmation and I haven't seen anything with dates yet, so this is pure speculation but if I were an Aussie I would be saving my money for concert tickets to go on sale later this summer or early fall.

Keith Urban BSE
I registered for Mohegan BSE for the May 7th show yesterday and it now states registration is closed and it did allow me to register for the May 8th date so I am assuming that I did not win.
I am ok with that. I would love to meet Keith this year but if I had a choice (which I don't) would rather have it later in the tour than at the first show so I have something to look forward too.
It's Official I got denied!

Why?
Someone sent me an email asking me why I thought this blog was necessary. Well, I thought I stated those reasons several times. It is a place for my friends to keep in touch with me this summer while I go from place to place and to hear about my concerts and other fun things I am doing.
I opened it up to the Keith Urban fans in case they also wanted to read about the Keith shows or other concerts I am going too as well.
It is as simple as that. So if you want to join me this summer, feel free. If you don't, then don't!
Thanks for visiting!

To GO to CMA or NOT?
I have literally changed my mind about this everyday for the past three months and I know that time is running out and I need to decide in the next week.
I loved CMA Fest last year. I had the best time and was able to discover new artists that I have not really listened to much in the past and found that I loved them (Jake Owen, Luke Bryan to name a few)
I didn't enjoy the stadium shows as much as I thought I would as the talent last year wasn't the combination that I had hoped for.
This year my plan was to do the Riverfront shows (which they just announced are free this year) and do the free concerts and fan club parties of my favorite artists and the softball game, fashion show, etc. It really comes down to hotels. Most of the hotels are either sold out or the price is outrageous unless you buy a tour package and honestly I don't want to spend that amount of money this year.
CMA just announced that single night tickets are going on sale this week, but without a lineup announced how are you supposed to know which nights to buy for?
So if anyone has any ideas of where I can find a cheap room or bed to crash in that is within walking distance of downtown, then I am there, if not then I might pass this year and go to other concerts. Keith is playing on my birthday in Atlanta which I have been "pressured" (you know who you are) to go to, if CMA Fest does not work out, I just might show up in Atlanta. :)

Concert Updates
What I am hoping to do since I was able to get my Twitter account to update this page, is to do live concert updates like I did last year directly my Iphone. The reason I am going to use twitter for this is twitter allows you to upload pictures immediately and I will be able to take pictures of the current stage layout, etc as the night goes on and it will allow me to send it the set list as it happens.
The hardest things is going to keep my phone charged. Working on a backup battery boost, checking ebay for that as we speak.
I am going to try to test this at the Jake Owen concert in a few weeks, hopefully it works.
To get to the twitter updates, follow me on twitter, my ID is concerts09.
Thanks
Val

Getting Ready for the Tour
WOW, its that time of the year again when I am busy choosing my shows, buying my tickets, booking hotels and teaming up with my girls to attend my concerts for the season.
My goal is to accomplish a few things.
To let those that can not attend feel like they are there.
Share my on the road experiences as they happen.
This will work in conjuction with my Twitter Account and if I can get it to work out correctly, update this live as it happens.
I really want to keep this light-hearted and friendly and for that reason I am going to have to moderate comments before they are posted . I hope you understand. Please be patient as this is a bit different from what I did last year.
I will be doing a few test posts before the tour actually starts to see if things will work once I hit the road.
I am going to write about more than just KU Concerts this year and hope to attend a variety of concerts between now and the end of the year.
I will add pictures and video as I go along (and learn how to) and for those who were with me on the last go around, good to be back and have you back reading again!
